Shari first came to the Gunflint area for a summer job at Gunflint Lodge in 1983. By the end of the summer she knew she had found a life she loved. Hard work during the days surrounded by people, wilderness and an abundance of activities. She returned for 4 more summers, while attending UW- Stout to pursue a degree in Hotel and Restaurant management. After graduation she took a Corporate job with Hyatt Hotels traveling to Denver then Seattle. She returned to Gunflint Lodge as part of their management team in the Fall of 1991. In 2001 she and her husband Bob purchased the Gunflint Pines with Jaret (then 3) and Wyatt (then 1.5) in tow. As of October of 2016 she bought out Bob and now runs the resort with the help of her boys and her sister Sandy and seasonal employees.
